EARLY REGISTRATION (before June 15th, 2019)

Note that the « Early bird » rate only applies if the conference package is booked and paid before the deadline.

Application of abstracts for oral presentations (20 min) or posters will begin in February 2019 until June 30, 2019.

Oral presentations

Oral presentations will last 20 minutes including the question period.

Please note that posters should be 80 cm (width) x 100 cm (height) maximum

STUDENTS TRAVEL GRANTS

There will be four IOBC student travel grants of 700 € (1 040 $CA) for North American students and three travel grants of 1 500 € (2 230 $CA) for students traveling from other continents (outside North America). These are awarded on a competitive basis, based on the quality of the abstract submitted. Applicants must be under the age of 35 and IOBC members. Recipients are expected to give an oral presentation – poster presentations will not be supported. We are grateful to the IOBC for supporting the meeting with student travel grants.

Applicants should submit an abstract of their oral presentation by email to Dr. J.P. Michaud (jpmi@ksu.edu) indicating their interest in receiving an IOBC travel grant and their geographical location. Applicants will be ranked by the steering committee on the basis of the quality and relevance of the abstract submitted. The highest ranked submissions will be awarded grants until the funds are exhausted.

LATE REGISTRATION (from June 16th, 2019)

Late price (participant) : approximately 575 $US and 495 euros

CANCELLATION CONDITIONS

Cancellations received before July 1, 2019 will be fully refunded, less 100$.

Cancellations received between July 1, 2019 and August 1, 2019 will be reimbursed 50% of the registration fee only.

No refund will be made for cancellations received after August 1, 2019 or for any registered participants who fail to attend the conference.

APHIDOPHAGOUS & APHIDS PHOTO CONTEST

The APHIDOPHAGA XIV local committee is organizing a photo contest!

The photo submission period for the 2019 APHIDOPHAGA XIV congress is now open. The organizing committee looks for the highest aesthetic and technical quality of Aphidophagous or Aphids photographs.

PHOTO SUBMISSION

Photographs will be accepted from now to the deadline of August 31, 2019.

  • Submissions should be sent by e-mail to Alice De Donder : de_donder.alice@courrier.uqam.ca ;
  • The e-mail title should begin by: PHOTO CONTEST, name-first name, Photo #number…; (one photo by e-mail)
    • Ex: PHOTO-CONTEST Pierre Lavoie Photo #1
  • Photograph should include Aphids or Aphidophagous species (predators, parasitoids or pathogens);
  • Photograph may include individual species or interactions;
  • JPG or PNG format; max 5Mo;
  • Photographs may be horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait);
  • Complete scientific names of the species, locality and year of the picture must be included in the e-mail;
    • Ex: Coccinella septempunctata, Montreal (Canada) 2017
  • Photographs of dead insects that are posed or mounted are not accepted;
  • A maximum of three photographs may be submitted by a single photographer.

PHOTO EVALUATION

Photographs will be printed (format) and exposed by the organizing Committee at the beginning of the next APHIDOPHAGA congress (September 16-20, 2019). The name of the photograph will not be indicated, in order to guarantee a blind judging process. Any person who will attend the meeting will be able to vote for the three best pictures (including accompanying persons).

Judging criteria will be indicated close to the pictures and include photo quality (composition, color, and clarity) as well as technical difficulty (rare species, rare scene, logistical difficulties).

The prices will be attributed to the three best photographs, linked to Quebec products: ice cider, ice wine, maple products (to be determined).

Photos, according to the agreement of the photographer, may be sent for future use on the cover of one of the Canadian entomological journals (The Canadian Entomologist, Phytoprotection, Antennae …).
